That's cool! But, I hope I don't need one.

Wow...

Look at the pics - I bet that really is a 12k mile truck. See the pedal pads, they are hardly worn. Brush trucks are very rarely used...

Tempting to buy it and take all the stuff off, and build a nice 4x4 with it.

Ooh, pretty. Most surplus fire trucks have been meticulously maintained, kept indoors, and seen limited use. Usually they are a fantastic deal. Except for the one my brother bought...

He wanted a nice vintage delivery truck for his cabinet shop. He found a 50's vintage fire truck (F600?) and planned to make a nice stake bed after removing the pumper body from the frame.

His plan would have worked great except for one little hitch. The manufacturer cut off the Ford frame behind the cab. The fire truck body was structural and bolted to these frame stubs.

He assumed the body sat on the original Ford frame. I'd have thought the same thing. He said it was quite the surprise to crawl under his new truck but couldn't figure out how to unbolt the body from the (nonexistent) frame.

Hmmm! The above truck [see link] sold for $10,000 + $1,000 buyer's premium = $11,000!

That's pricey - unless they really wanted the fire gear.

Would be awesome to show up for a volunteer stint at a prescribed prairie burn in that truck. But it'd be too nice to take right into the thick of things.

I have a buddy with a 1980 firetruck F350. They are always kept up, but looking at it the truck had no AC and neither does his. There are not even vents in the dash for it.
