Gear Ratio Question

I Have a 91 F-150 4x2, auto. w/ the 302 and I was wondering how I can find out what the rear end gear ratio is. What is a good gear ratio for pulling anyway. Also what gear ratio did the 1st generation lightning's have in them.

Thanks in advance,
Tim

Gear Ratio Question

I believe the first generation lightnings had 4.10s You can tell by the tag on the cover of your rear differential. There are other numbers on the tag, but look for a number like 3 08 or 3 55....if you have a traction loc(limited slip) differential, it will say 3L08 or 3L55.

Gear Ratio Question

Well, i've wanted a mustang for about 3 years now and for now the truck fits me alil better. I'm an active kid and couldn't tow my snowmobiles in the winter with a mustang. The second i saw this truck i fell in love with it too. I got my license in november of 2000 and have had the truck since then and have no complaints. I plan to have this truck for a loong time. So i decided that for now, i will have a truck, and when i get alittle older i'll get an old mustang and restore it. I don't even have a garage yet so thats gotta come first, once my parents decide to move.

Gear Ratio Question

So what year and model is your truck, what motor is in your rig. I am hoping to get a 1st generation lightning in 2 or 3 years along as the job goes well and finding a house in about a year goes well also.
