I'm trying to give my 11 F150 5.0 a tune up and I can't get the coil wires off the coils. I've popped up the red tab, but when I push on the black tab and pull it won't come off. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm getting really frustrated with this. I did the driver's side and it was a pain, but I can't get the passenger side.

Did you try pushing the connector on more before pressing the tab to release?

Try blowing it out with air too.

 

Yeah I did all of that. I ended up getting them off after a lot of swearing and by using a some pliers to squeeze the black tab. I just can't believe how small the tab is to push on. It makes it a pain to get them off if the truck isn't in new like condition.

Be careful using pliers you can damage the connector. But once you get them off I would recommend some Di-Electric grease on the pins/ connector.
