77 f150 alternator wont charge
ai have went through the forums, and no luck. i need help. alternator is new and passed test prior to purchasing, volt. regulator is new. truck has gauges not dummy light. i have no voltage from alternator at all. i have voltyage to alternator from battery, but nothing from the field output. my truck is a hot air choke not electric. i have voltage to the S pin on the voltage reg. when key switch is in run position. but again, no charging from alternator. the alternator has 3 terminals on the back (bat, fld, and sta) at the parts house, the alternator would not pass until they connected a connector to the sta terminal, but according to wiring diagrams, on my truck the sta terminal is not used, though my harness has a plug on connector for it. my F terminal on the volt reg has continuity to the fld terminal connector on the back of alternator. ive already warranty replaced the new alternator under assumption it was bad, but still no remedy. i added a ground wire from the grnd terminal on alternator to bolt which grounds the volt reg. with no effect. all my fusable links have continuity to positive side of ignition solenoid. seems like at the parts house, the alternator again would not pass until the sta terminal was connected. this is where im at. im completely lost now

The last time I had alt problems the belt was bad. Everything checked out, same as yours. The belt was old but tight. The problem was that it was either well worn or the wrong belt installed by po. Either way it was a little hard and too narrow. It rode to low in the pully. It turned the alt enough that it would generate a field putting out 10.6v (wrench, screw driver would stick to the back of the case) and the engine would continue to run after I unhooked the battery (NOT A RECOMMENDATION, BAD IDEA) and it would suddenly put out 14.6v. New/correct belt fixed it.

stator is plugged up. even though wiring diagram and schematis says its not required if the electric choke or dummy light isnt present, i still have the connector and plugged it up. still no affect. i even attempted to install a light under the hood to replicate a dummy light and complete a circuit, but again, no effect
