The CC on my '96 250 5.8 4x4 A/T hasn't worked in 5-6 years and I can really use it on long hauls...can anyone here guide me on where to start? I checked all the fuses in the box over the driver's left knee and they're all fine. What is the proper diagnose & fix procedure? I hate just throwing parts at problems....

 

I believe the only other components ,other than the harness, are the switches and actuator. The switches you can test. Not sure how to test the actuator though.

 

If it has had the recall performed on it , there will be a fuse in the added harness at the master cylinder... Might check that....

 

My bet is the actuator is bad. They are plentiful in the j/y as they were used on almost every Ford product in the 90 ' s and early 00's. I replaced mine with one from Lincoln Town Car.
