Here is a 2.3L vehicle electrical schematic http://econtent.autozone.com:24991/z...528018efdb.gif & we can see in the upper left, that it shows the coil packs being controlled out of the ICM, with inputs from the ECM & dual vane crank sensor, which also provides the ECM timing into for fuel injector squirt timing, so as has been said, the ICM is a busy fellow, common problem part & its heat problem reputation have earned it a well deserved spot on your suspect list. So, don't feel like we're fussing at you for giving up the trouble shoot & pulling the trigger on a new ICM.
EDIT:
SO if you come by your LED test light, or just decide you want to do some more testing, have a look here at scenario #3 for some more ideas on ICM testing, with pictorials. http://easyautodiagnostics.com/ford/...sensor-tests-3

Hello PawPaw...
I`m a happy camper.....
I just returned from the hospital yesterday, had an operation on my throat, and today the new ICM came in. I couldn`t wait so off i went and installed the new ICM with heat transfer paste. Connected the timing light up to the #1 right spark plug and startedit. Lots of flashes and so it is firing on all plugs. NO MORE CEL.. truck is running great.
Thanks for all ther help buddy
Wish you a great weekend and a nice holiday monday.
