$1200 to fix the o-ring? You can buy that big donut o-ring for like $35. Not unheard of the o-ring failing... or the fact the shop what's to rip-you off!

Are you in a smog testing state? If not, consider a delete.

I have a shop that I go to, and he is a very reputable mechanic. Ford certified, 7.3L and 6.0L are his specialty, and I know him personally. When the time it takes to do the job, and time away from other higher priority vehicles is accounted for, the price really adds up quick.

Also, there is the time it takes actually complete the task at hand, and then there is "shop time". Shop time almost always states that it takes longer then it actually does.

In the end, this is why I always try to do repairs myself. Saving my money for when I come across something I just don't want to get involved in.

Honestly, to me that price doesn't sound that out of whack. Your paying mostly for labor. Not the part. But it is alot to pay IMO.....

Where is the puddle. Front (water pump?) rear, do you see coolant in valley. Several places the 6.0 can leak. Intake "O" ring, EGR "O" ring, EGR short blue hose, heater hoses ect. I would ask a lot of questions.

Dripping from above starter. Moisture around head passenger side. No moisture around blue hose, all dry below that.

Jim I wish you could see a little coolant running somewhere on top of the engine. Just to make sure it is the "O" ring. Should run from front to back along passenger head. If you can't see it there. Keep looking.

that location has a removable plug in the block, above and behind the starter. You may want to take a closer look.

I'm just assuming that's the one they claim has the leak. Will know when they call. I looked on the top of the motor and in where the blue hose is and it was completely dry.
