Allow me to introduce myself
Hello there. I'm a first time truck owner, and I just bought this '73 f350 ranger with a 360 motor and automatic trans. Just trying to make connections in the portland area. Can anyone recommend me a good transmission shop? I have a leak in my trans, and the local mechanic topped me off with dexron instead of the recommended f-type. Should I be worried? Anyways, there's much more work I need to do, so if I definitely want to connect with others and get a resource base in Portland.

Welcome Old Faithful. Be sure to visit us in the BS Thread.
As to the transmission fluid....might be. You'd have to check the specs for the specific transmission you have. Some Fords were O.K. with Dexron and others were not. If the book specifically called for Ford M2C33-F ATF for your transmission then if IRC, Dexron was not acceptable.
If you ever get out of the PDX area and down towards McMinnville, Don and Tony at Frontier Transmission can't be beat.
