Questions about upgrading features on a 2011 6.7
Hey everyone!
I'm new to this forum and wanted to ask a few questions that y'all may have some answers to.
I'm looking at purchasing a 2011 f350 4x4 long bed lariat with 113k on it for roughly 30k. It is lacking a few features though that I would like to have eventually so I was wondering roughly what it would cost. Remote start, back up camera, and upgrading the audio head to the touchscreen version.
I'm pretty handy so I can do the install myself but was just wondering a ball park estimate of what adding this stuff would cost, I wouldn't mind buying it used once the parts start becoming more available.
Thanks!
Kyle

Hate to be the doomsayer, but 2011 6.7Ls have a valve issue that has a penchant for causing total engine failure around 100,000 mile. Not every 2011 truck will blow up, but there are a disconcerting number of those that have.
We've seen more than a few longtime FTE members blow up their 2011s at mileages between 89,000-150,000 miles. Cost for a new engine is north of $12K. I would make tracks away from that deal unless there's documentation that it's engine has already been replaced.
2012-present models are really, really good...I wouldn't hesitate to own one of those. A 2011 with the revised engine would also be a great choice...but a factory 2011 may be a time bomb. waiting to cost you a fortune.

If you have the basic sync the touch screen head unit alone is over 1k! I'm adding some stuff to my 2011 too: fog lights, step lights, etc... But, I plan to stick with my iTunes library and use waze or M.A.P. for navigation. The backup sensors are fine for me and I will stick with my little sticks with ***** on top for hooking up the trailer.

It depends on if you want to keep the OEM look or if you just want the extra functions. For all three if you do the work yourself, aftermarket will probably be around $1600 in parts' OEM will probably be around $2400. Just ball park figures, you might find it cheaper if you look. I know you can find more expensive though. Haha
