Oil leak stopped

The garage that inspected my new 55 F350 up in Erie told me on the phone it had an oil leak. I assumed he meant it left its mark like a lot of our Yblock trucks do. I realized what he meant after I got the truck home and saw a puddle of oil on my concrete driveway. I figured out but was coming from my oil filter. When running I could see oil flinging out of it.

I tightened the filter. It has an adapter spin on filter.... I know not stock..... But that didn't prevent the leak. I took it to the local garage. They fixed it. He said a gasket was missing. The missing gasket was the one that goes next to the block, then there is a plate and all are held on by a bolt, then the filter spins onto that.

I would like to have a spin on on Austins F1. The gasket that came with the oil filter was so thin I could not keep it on the canister when tightening the top. Ended up making a wider gasket. Spin on sounds pretty good to me.

Ed, I don't know about the 226. Jim, Ross has done some research on the original vs the spin on filter. I'm sure that he will explain it here.

And you probably don't have to change the oil very often?
