Payload update

So after much worry on the way to good ole Home Depot I had a skid of rock loaded in my truck. Roughly 2100 pounds. Yes it squatted almost made it level. However the 5.0 pulled like a boss. When I say you couldn't tell the weight was back there I mean it. Truck went up and down 4-7% grades like nothing on the way home. Actually feel a bit bad being a ford guy that I doubted the new truck. (Coming from a 15 powerstroke)

That's good. I know my 99 squatted with 2400 pounds in the back. We were removing a pile of torn up old driveway at my aunt's house. I would load the truck up right to the top and pack it tight with the asphalt. The local recycle center would charge 25 bucks a truck load. I had 2 truck loads. The F 150 had no problems moving or stopping. However, it squatted while doing it.

The newer trucks are different animal than years past. The fact you can get an F150 that rates almost as much as a 3/4 is pretty amazing.

Well last week I posted that I placed 8 bags of dirt in the back and was squatting a bit. Now coming from a superduty I guess knowing I needed this skid I was a bit concerned but not now!!

Glad to hear you have relaxed about this. I thought you were overreacting with those first posts.

Thanks for the details.

SO per the Ford payload table you're rated at 2160#... good to see 2100 was AOK.

Actually you can get more payload in a 150 than in some current 250s; the diesel in the 250 eats up a great deal of payload.

I know my 250 is right around 2300 on the tag but when you factor in payload on board, I am probably around 1800 or so on the legal side. However, that's not to say I have over payload before at 3300 pounds of wet sand in the truck before. I know I would not have done that in my 99 F150 but the 250 it was not really any issue. Diesel forgettaboutit. At that point, just think 350.

It's amazing how much weight these light duty trucks can handle.
