I feel guilty

I always said if I got a diesel that I wouldn't want a tuner on it. I'd just want it to be stock. I just got done putting a ts 6 position chip on my 97 7.3. I haven't drove it yet. Gonna wait till this rain moves out but dang, the throttle sure is more responsive and on the 140 setting it blows some black smoke. I almost feel bad for my truck. Is there any long term I'll effects of leaving it in say 50 or 75hp setting all the time? I have stock injectors so I understand I'm not gaining anything on the 100 and 140 hp setting.

I think I went about this backwards. I got the tuner before I got any gauges. I do have a 3 in down pipe to a 4 in exhaust and I did the napa air intake. I don't tow anything. Do you think I will be ok on my egt's for a bit until I'd can get some gauges?

I almost forgot. I tested drove it last night and wow is all I can say. The transmission shifts so much smoother and faster now and she sure is peppy. I really am amazed at the difference.

You're more than likely fine with your EGT's if you're not towing. Get some gauges ordered though.

These are the gauges I got. The green setting is almost an exact match to the factory gauges and looks pretty sharp IMO

Unless you just go hold it to the floor you'll be fine
