New Fuel pump/fuel filter canister install
Changed the fuel pump on my 95 and could not get it to crank. I filled the canister with diesel and replaced the filter. Its a good idea to put a drain pan below the bell housing cover Removed the inlet side fuel line to the pump. Mine is on the right side as your looking at it from the front of the truck. Took a 4' piece of 3/8 fuel line and slipped it on the pump. Stuck the other side into a coffee can full of diesel. Oh, you'll have to remove the y pipe coming off the turbo to do this. It will run without it, no worries. Spray wd40, don't be shy, (no either) in the air inlet. It took 4-5 times of cranking before she started to "try" to start. I let it run 5 minutes or so. Replaced the fuel line and all is good now.
