1976 to 1979 parts compatibility

I bought a parts truck for my 79 f250 with a 400. Parts truck is a 76 f250 with a 390. Factory heat and ac. Heat is the inside the bay variety, the 79's is under the dash. The cables for the heater are broke on the 79 and I was wanting to put the 76's good dash bezel and radio in the 79. Would that work? Could I use the 79 heater core and everything or would I have to switch over?

Also the the 76's ac controls are in the dash bezel. The 79's switches are separate in between the bezel and the glove box. Could I also make that work? Would the evaporator and other components switch between trucks?

Factory installed integral A/C, combined with the heater - upper picture.

The 79's two A/C switches are separate, located in a panel that also contains two registers, located in the dash between the bezel and the glove box.
Dealer installed Economy A/C, not combined with the heater - lower picture.
None of these A/C parts will interchange.

You could take everything from one truck and swap to another, depending on your level of skill.

If It helps I took a dash and wiring harness from a 79. Instrument cluster and heater controls from a 77 and put in my 73 everything works and it was easy but time consuming.

Wow thanks guys. So if I used the heater/ac controls out of the 76 I'd have to use the 76's engmhbr bay mounted heater also? Would everything swap over to the 79 or am I gonna need some special parts or something?
