Pulled the head, intake and oil pan for a look last night
Also checked for clearance after the head was killed .060", still have .110" between the valve and bottom of head without a head gasket, so no problem there

Not too much carbon and .060"Pistons

Too bad the head cracked in the outer water jacket was clean and in good shape. At least the new one has been milled.

Rear exh valve with clay on it still .110 clearance with no head gasket

Judging by the looks of the top, oversize pistons and the small pile of assembly grease in the bottom of the pan it looks like the engine rebuilt not too many miles ago

Very little sludge and not black so must have had detergent oil since then,
Gas in the tank has 0% alcohol too, so must have been in there since the 90's (anybody remember when ethonal was added to gas? I think it was mid 90's in CT)

I need to add a Helicoil to one side of the exhaust manifold Had to drill out the broke stud and the hole was tapped 1/2"-14 (not7/16-14) so mush have been done before
Engine paint on order from Hirsch auto

The Hirche paint is so nice. Lays flat, good gloss holds up well

Now I'll really have to paint the firewall & frame

Thx

Bit of a challenge to get all of it. Had to take the trans cover off the floor and climb in the can to get the back side. Probably a little weak on the head but if you can't see it ...

More progress

Had to fabricate a bracket to hold the air cleaner bracket since the head I got had no boss or tapped hole for one

It was lightly stamped 7HA...

Have been working on getting all the little parts on and getting it running

Plumbed new advance vac line

Missing ground boss and thread on this head. Has a light 7HA stamped into it but doesn't have the tapped air cleaner bracket hole or ground lug hole.

Improvised on the bracket for air cleaner

Now that it runs got the PTO engaged so I could install the back window
Can mounts need to be replaced and then I can get to the interior panels and seat

Signal switch in too
