Ball joints time. What to pick

I've been racking my brain for hours today researching which ball joints to get. I see old posts with moog being the go to product and now they are not what they once were. Forget Dynatrac, too pricey and rebuild kits for them cost almost as much as buying them new. XRF are an option but not enough reviews out there on them. Then there is Spicer. Everything I've read up on those are they're pretty much OEM. Let's not forget Raybestos. I see service grade and professional grade.

I just really want the best quality without braking the bank. I got a quote today for a full replacement job including alignment for right around $900. This was for a better quality ball joint according to the shop manager. I can't remember if he said they were moog or spicer. I'll call him tomorrow to verify that. What should I be looking for in a quality ball joint? This is driving nuts.

unless you are going to be cutting them open and measuring the components for accuracy, as well as sending out the material for spectral anayasis I dont know that there is anything you can "look for" which means you have to rely on reputation or reviews.

even though there have been some concerns with the spicers in the last few years I would not run anything but spicers even if you gave them to me for free. they are just to much of a hassle to install to chance crappy ball joints or joints of unknown quality imo

I went with XRF... Very happy, BUT I'm only 7000 miles into the MILLION.

I vote:
OEM spicer, I just replaced a set on my ex that had 220,000 miles on them.

However I went with NAPA premium\raybestos because I wanted grease zerts. They "look" good no stamped steel parts like some.

I think the important thing is to install the ball joints correctly, and different manufactures have different directions. I even got 2 different proceedures from 1 manufacturer. So don't expect a wrench turner to know the proceedure for the part your installing. Ask questions and verify correct proceedures. Than if greaseable use a good moly type high pressure grease.

So I see we all still have different preferences. Well I called the shop service Manager and he said they are going to use Spicer. They appear like a very reputable place. They only work on big rigs, medium and heavy duty trucks. I got an appointment for next week

Kinda late to the game, but, I put XRF's in mine a few weeks back. Moogs were on it on both sides, so, I'm pretty sure these weren't OE. The upper on the drivers side had about 1/8" play. So far, I'm happy with the XRF's.
