Looking at a 2009 f150

I am looking at upgrading from a 2000 f250 V10 to a 2009 f150 5.4. Getting tired of the rough ride of the superduty. I don't know anything about this year. Does the 2009 have the cam phaser problems like the 05. What about longevity. It already has 150000 miles on it. Will it be able to tow a 25ft travel trailer (no slide outs) and a double jetski trailer? Any info on this model would be great.

Would your budget allow to move up to a newer truck? In 2010 Ford upgraded the brakes, transmission software and added electric fans.

If you could swing a 2011 or newer truck you'd be quite impressed with the difference between those trucks and the 2009 models.

With those miles I'd have to have some strong reassurances that all the maintenance was performed as illustrated in the owners guide or sooner. It looks clean in the pics, have you checked it out?

I haven't checked it out yet. Its 135 miles away so I will have to wait for the weekend. They won't give out the name of the old owner. I'm just wondering what the common problems are. If it were an early superduty I would know just what to look for. I also didn't know there are 3 different box lengths. This thing is short. That might be a deal breaker. I have a bad habit of seeing something I like and thats all I focus on. I gotta learn to be patient and look around.

Have they improved the cam phasers over the 04-05 models? Theirs got to be some common issues that I should look out for.

I haven't read of any cam phaser issues since the 2004-2008 model trucks but that doesn't mean that some don't exist. I personally couldn't see myself buying a truck with that many miles unless some well documented repairs were made on the truck.

Ya most car dealers will give you the name of the previous owner but not this one.

I actually find that to be hard to believe......not saying your wrong but giving out name of previous owner seems like it would be illegal if not at least rude. I wouldn't want to be fielding calls from prospective buyers of something I had traded into a dealer. Otherwise I'd just sell it myself and deal with the buyer myself.

That makes sense. I never thought of it that way.

I was really excited about this truck but now I'm a little scared of the mileage. But if my 4-wheeler wont fit with the tailgate down it's a deal breaker.

I need it to be at least 7ft from the front of the box to the end of the tailgate
