My '02 E150 was a mild conversion with smallish side running boards--enough that they did not make the van wider, and they did not reduce ground clearance. I found that when I got out of the driver's seat, I would put my heel on the running board to give me a logical step down. The normal footwell step was a bit high for a natural exit for me although I certainly could have managed. They were especially helpful during the few months before my back surgery (3 discs blown up) and in recuperating from that.
If I had bought a Club Wagon without running boards, I would not have added them.
My prior Savana conversion van had stupid large running boards that stuck out from the sides because the Savana body did not tuck under like an E van. Made the van bottom look like a big suction cup and they reduced the ground clearance. I took those off because they were stupid looking, and put them back on before I traded in the van.
I would very much like a set of the U-Haul take offs.
I missed out on a set on ebay. They didn't sell but never relisted.
I was thinking about some Big Hoops
Any step can make a huge difference getting in and out with a bad back and hip.
Just so both of you know, these things are heavy duty to say the least..
I'm going to weigh them and see what greyhound wants to ship them.
The guy I know has 8 sets.
