underhood light pic needed
Greetings,
I picked up a NOS under hood light for my 75 F250.
Could someone post a pic or two or three of how the light is actually threaded through the holes in the under hood support structure and of where its mounted and where it connects(I believe it connects to the solenoid on the P-side fender)
Thanks in advance.

Here's the illustration for the installation from the parts catalog.

Is this the same on a 78 Mike?? I thought the green/yellow wire right near the connector for the blower motor was for a hood light?
That's a correct 78 NOS harness.....judging by the wire color at that grey female connector i thought it was in with the courtesy/door jamb wiring....switched off by a mercury switch in the lsmp fixture?

Hmmm....i guess if the lamp runs off a mercury switch it wouldn't matter.....but the courtesy circuit is always HOT so either way if that connector on my pic is infact on the courtesy circuit (green/yellow) i coud plug in a light there.......idk wtf else it would be for?? Unless for a/c. But i think thise connectors are inboard just above where harness comes through firewall. .....
Mike will no doubt chime back in lol

That one was used 73-75 after that it shows D6TZ-15702-A from 76-78 (s/n BE0,001) and 78-79 after BE0,001 used D8TZ-15702-A so I would say there was a good chance the wiring changed along the way.
EDIT: I got smart and checked the master wiring diagram. Page 7 of the'79 (I don't have the '78) shows the underhood light plugs into connection C-1112. The description of the plug in the index (it also shows a drawing of the plug) is gray with a single Green/yellow wire. Location: In engine compartment, near dash, r.h side.

The original underhood light that I have definitely wires into the battery side of the starter solenoid. It has an inline fuse for circuit protection and has a mercury switch to turn it on and off, that one is part number D3TZ-15702-A.

Cool info thanks again.....cant find any late NOS lights. But ill probably swoop a late model unit or maybe an led and plumb it in

There are a few of the early D3 lights around, none of the D6's but I did find one NOS D8 switch still available, if you want the contact info let me know and I'll PM it to you.

All done, I used the D3TZ-15702-A which is the mercury variety.
Took all of about 15 minutes once I figured out which holes to use; plastic snaps were all in the right place and it ties in to the +side of the solenoid.
Will need to add the plastic grommet that goes around the hole where the wire passes through for long term protection though
Thanks again.
