looks like a Ford 10.25 to me. The tags appear to still be on the cover, that should have all the info on them.

The AXLE code is printed on the Certification Label, glued to the left door face adjacent to the latch.

thanks

dumb question: i assume with that deep drum and those long studs that this would be a dually axle?

i'm looking for candidates to throw under my '52 F3, and the interweb sez the widths are different depending on what it came out of.

also, sounds like this is also called a sterling??

I have heard them called sterling as well. but it might not necessarily be a DRW axle because of the long studs and deep drums. My 94 F250 looked pretty much the same and it was SRW.

Grab the VIN off of that truck, as well as take a pic of the Identification label in the driver's door jamb. FTE will figure it out. Oh yeah....I wouldn't go fussin' around too much under that truck, relying on those "jack stands"......just sayin'
(We need a skull and crossbones emoji).

The AXLE code is not within the VIN of any Ford car or truck. See post #4.

The 5th-6th-7th digits of the VIN will decode to what style of truck this is.

Cab and Chassis axles and SRW axles are the same width. The perches are in different places, 34" vs 37" respectively. The DRW is wider by 3-4" I believe. Not sure on the exact width, but it's wider and has the perches at 37".

The "hats" on the end are because it's full floating. The drums look like 3" drums. You can also find 2-1/2" drums. The flanges are in the same place but you have less brake surface. Yes, you can put 3" drums and shoes onto something with 2-1/2" wide brakes.
