Hello to all. My first vehicle was a broken down 1981 Bronco that my dad bought used in 1984. I was given the option of either paying the insurance or paying the repair cost. Being the know it all teenager that I was, I chose the repair. Because once I got it running I was done right? Insurance was every month. Well, I learned my first automotive life lesson with this truck. First On Race Day was not the Ford acronym that I got to use, ever. But Fix Or Repair Daily, with the help of a Chilton guide, taught me how to do most repairs myself and saved me a ton of money. I eventually added a 4 inch lift and drove that truck through high school. Life responsibilities made me lower the truck on my priority list but I never sold it. It has been holding down the dirt on the side of my house for close to 20 years. It has survived neighbor complaints and city code enforcers durring that time and is still there, waiting. Well, the wait is almost over. My oldest is turning 13 this year and a drivers license is not far off. I am using this as an excuse to pull the Bronco out and get it on the road again. Not for her. She can have the beater i've been driving back and forth to Chowchilla every day. I will split time between the 81 and my 2000 F250. I think the days of tearing up the trails are behind me but the truck is still awesome so it deserves to shine again. And with the knowledge on this site, my knuckles will once again be bloodied from fighting 35 year old rusty bolts.
