S&B intake any good?

Kinda having buyers remorse. Bought a plug and play DP tuner today and also a S&b intake system. Pretty sure ill be happy with the tuner as Jody helped out with custom tunes ,, but after my purchase i did some searching and found that the S&B has to be cleaned out constantly in order to perform well. Any thoughts???

Why would it need to be cleaned out more than any other pleated filtration? Dry or oiled version.

I love my S&B intake. I use the dry filter and usually change it every 10,000 miles.

Same here - dry... replace every 10K miles. The filter that fits in the S&B and needs cleaning is an option, so the thread wasn't wrong.

Whether you are aware of it or not - you got a good one. The only intake I like better is the AIS (20K miles on filter and quieter), but it can't take anything bigger than stock injectors.

It is a very nice filter system, but as others have said use the dry filter. I almost went with the S&B but opted for the AIS because I knew what my goals were for the truck and additional cost (at the time) for the S&B was not necessary.

I have only had my S&B in for a month or so but I absolutely love it. Switched over from the 6637. I got the oiled filter and even in the crazy dust in my area this time of year it's peforming well and I haven't had to clean it yet. throttle response is much better and it's quieter in the cab than my 6637 was.

I too went with the S&B from a 6637, and have the oiled version. I don't put a whole lot of miles on it, maybe 4000-5000 miles per year average, so for me it made sense to run the maintainable cotton filter. I run stock, so I have no need for the better breathing capability of the paper version. All of my OA's show silicon levels below universal averages, so filtration is great. I am very pleased with it.

I also went from 6637 to S&B oiled version. It is a little quieter than the 6637, I have a 38R and 160/30's so I needed a little more air flow than the AIS was capable of and I am not one of those guys that hates the whistle or the sound of my 7.3. It works well for me. I am pushing 20K on it right now and may switch to the dry filter just to try it out.

To bad the AIS doesn't flow better. I would take that hands down over all others. It's quiet and has the best filteration available
