2016 F250 Platinum Speaker Upgrade / Sound deadening

Have a 2016 Platinum F250 with the SONY audio and 8" touchscreen. The truck is a huge upgrade from my 2008 F-150 Lariat except in the audio department. I was very happy with the audio in my 150, just find the f250 lacking. One of my first projects was to improve this but I didn't want to modify my truck too much or replace the OEM headunit. I also didn't want to sacrifice any underseat storage or modify the look of the truck in any way. I came across BIGDZL's build and it seemed like exactly what I was looking for. His build is here:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...tallation.html

I went with FOCAL door speakers instead of the JL and I didn't use a remote cable to power up the AMP. I instead used the GTO sensing on the LC2i to send a remote signal to the AMP. It works perfectly, the music stays on after powering down the car just like stock. Open the doors and everything shuts down.

I treated the doors and the rear of the cab with dynamat. This is extremely important. Especially with the bass coming out of the Focals and the JL 13.5" sub. The dynamat not only deadens the outside noise, but it prevents vibrations inside the cab and improves the speakers performance. Especially the door speakers. If you don't care about feeling the bass, you can significantly improve the sound of your truck just by treating the doors with dynamat and replacing the OEM speakers.

I'm extremely happy with how everything sounds. I have the EQ all zeroed out on the head unit. The audio is clear and crisp. You can feel the bass and can fine tune how much with the amp adjustment **** mounted at the driver dash. I'm hearing details in the music I haven't heard before especially from high quality music sources. (IE: NOT Sirius radio)

Below are a few pics of the install but if you want more detail and almost a step by step of what I did, check out my install album. 2016 Ford F250 Audio Upgrade (SONY NAV) - Album on Imgur

Wow! You must be a serious audiophile (meant as a compliment) because the Super Duty's I have been in (and can't wait to get my new one I have on order) with the Sony system sound great to me.
I would bet this one you did sounds awesome!

I don't consider myself an audiophile. I just couldn't live with going backwards in audio quality compared to my stock 08 F150. And the project "sounded" like fun!

Enjoy your new Super Duty!

Nice job on the install. Have you noticed a decrease in road noise with the dynamat?

Thanks! I think so. I say that because it's hard to compare before and after. I rarely drive without music. I did a drive the other evening on the freeway and most of the noise I was hearing seemed to be coming from the wind noise on the roof and the engine. I think I would need to treat the doors some more and also treat the front floor and firewall for the most noise reduction. My goal was more about improving speaker performance than reducing road noise as I didn't find the F 250 to be particularly noise to begin with.

Ok. It was just a curiousity. My 02 Lariat is WAYYYYYY more quiet than my 04 XL was. I figured a modern Platinum would be superior to both. Just curious if it made a noticeable difference. Thanks for the input

Dynamat isn't really a sound deadener. It is used to dampen vibrations which reduces the noise caused by them. If you want sound deadening you need to use something like Dynapad. I did my whole 2008 F150 with just Dynamat & it really wasn't much quieter. I put a sound deadening material on just the back of the cab & the truck was quieter. I planned to do the floors & firewall but never got around to it.
