Seeking input on buying a new 88 F600

I have been using my 95 f350 7.3L dump bed witha home made chip box for my part time tree trimming business. It served me wellfor the past 13 years. However when I load that baby up with woodchips or logsI wish it has more pay load. I'm going to go look at a 88 F600. This truck has a 6.6 L diessel. Sounds like indecent shape. Should I get it? Is the 6,6 L anywhere close to the 7.3 L in termof part availability, workability and reliability? Thx for any input. Erwin

read somewhere that people has swap the original New Holland 6.6 with something else. How can I make sure (ID) that it still have the good old NH motor in it? Thx

went to look at the truck yesterday with my buddy. both liked the truck. it starts and runs very well. minimal rust on the body and frame undernieth. asking price is 3000 and we agreed on 2500. my buddy is a bodyshopper kind of guy. he said after he does some fixing and give it a fresh paint, it will look like a $10K truck! I have 2 F350 trucks with 7.3L PSD, 1 ton. This thing is SOOOO much bigger. I'll need a lot of time to getting used to it. Anyway, seems like a good buy. Will post more pictures once I get it cleaned up. Erwin.

I probably will lose the rack in the front. No good for storage (there is plenty locked storage space), can't think of any good reasons to keep it.
