swap meet score: 428 finned valve covers.

got these this afternoon at the Englishtown NJ swap meet.






are these really Shelby covers, or chinese aftermarket knockoffs?

They don't look factory to me. More Flash Gorden style.

that is what i thought. price was rite at $125 for the pair with 2 breathers.
i have the stock tin covers on my 7 litre, and thought they would pretty it up when i pull the engine to freshen up the bottom end.

I did a search with that number cast in them and found a bunch with "Shelby" or "Le Mans" and similar on them. All have the same number and Shelby American Inc cast in the inside. Good for the price--some are on e-bay for $600 and even $1800.

yea, i saw the ones with COBRA instead of 428 selling for $1,845.
didn't see any with just the 428 on them though.

they don't have to be genuine, just look good and not leak oil.

the car is not a concourse restoration, it is a driver.
