Horn Question

I don't know when Ford decided to add this feature but, is there any way to turn off the horn's double honk every time you close a door if you have left the truck running? This is driving me insane and is very obnoxious! Thank you

Yes, but it requires dumping an as-built file into your truck using an IDS, which means a dealer trip:

No prob. The owner is a good dude. I've known him and done business with him in a separate industry for quite a few years.

I don't understand what I would be getting for my purchase. And I don't understand "dumping an as-built file into your truck using an IDS". Will I receive a disk or a thumb drive with software? And what if my dealer refuses to install after-marker software?

Thanks,
David

Hopefully I will be finding out this week as my truck is at the dealer now for an oil leak. While Inwas there I told them I want that damn double honk gone......that was a new request for him, but said they would figure it out. I toldthem about this guy/website and said I'm happy to pay for the file as long as you can make it stop. So we shall see.....

I don't understand all the intricacies (email Jason and he'll explain it), but I understand some bits. Basically, he's generating a file that makes certain custom changes to one of the computers. The IDS is the Ford diagnostics tool, which allows the loading of this file.

IDS has some options that are easy to switch on/off - things like turning off the engine "enhancement" audio. But the double-honk isn't one of them. So, you need the special file.

The file is small and can be emailed.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll check with my dealer to see if they'll install it.

well now I'm really dissapointed and now I need to start calling all the local Ford dealers to see if I can find one willing to do it. The dealer my truck is at now says its a Ford installed safety feature and they can not remove it

Don't tell them so much. Tell them you have an as-built file that you need installed. It'll cost you an hour of labor.
