What's the heaviest load you've carried?

Still trying to decide if a 150 will be enough for me.

Has anybody carried a yard of stone or sand? What's the heaviest load your F150 moved for you?

This... Dirt and rocks. Prob 1,700lbs. Only hit the bump stops on very big dips. Otherwise she handled it just fine. Liked being able to finally hear the turbo spool up.

Not a lot of weight for me, hopefully that changes soon.

1,000 lbs of bagged concrete:

750 lbs of Arctic Cat.

I haven't carried anything heavy in my new F150, but I did carry a yard of sand in my 04 4.6 2wd 150 and it carried it just fine. I drove about 10-12 miles and backed it up a pretty steep hill at the end. The only thing I did was inflate my tires up to the max psi. The suspension didn't come close to hitting the stops.

Thanks for the responses!

A yard of sand is ~2600# and the F150 I am spec-ing out has a max payload of ~2200#. I only carry stone/sand 1-2x per year and for short trips.

Don't forget the capacities that Ford quotes are best case scenarios. You'll lose capacity as you check more options and features. My trucks actual scaled weight is a few hundreds of pounds over the "licensed" weight.

If you can, fine a truck that you want on a lot and take it by a truck scale to see where it's at in real life.

That's a good suggestion.

I got spoiled by the payload capacity of my 03 F250. However, I rarely use the truck for these heavy loads so I am bouncing around at 12mpg for the luxury of not having to make a few more trips.

I think i will end-up in a F150.

Over the course of a few years I carried about 50 yards of rock out to our land. We were building a culvert & did it one scoop at a time. It was about 8 miles from the stone yard to the land (all back roads). Once on the land I had to drive on the dirt/mud. The back of the truck dropped pretty low but didn't bottom out. The truck handled it just fine however we didn't have to drive in traffic and the speed limits were all 50 or less.

Thanks, this is what I'm looking for. Just to confirm: you did this in your '12 F150?
