Fuel theft

Besides tail gates they are stealing our diesel fuel here. Few of neighbors filler necks were cut because they had locking has caps. Just trying to find any idea to strengthen the filler neck? Sucks cuz I can never keep fuel in my tank

Stainless Steel sleeve, 1/4 " bigger than the filler tube, slip it over the exposed area. problem is , then they will drill your tank.

Proximity car alarm. Get close, set off light and siren.

...a claymore or two wouldn't hurt, but the person who parks next to you in the grocery store parking lot and returns before you might not appreciate that

Seems like you could put a strainer mesh in the tank at the bottom of the inlet tube and keep them from siphoning.

As was mentioned, then they might try some other process or do more damage out of spite.

Fuel cell with electric fence wire cage around it?

Move out of CA. If not, I'd shield the filler neck, install an alarm, other theft deterrents, and video surveillance where parking.

Skid plate on the tank, locking cap, and sleeve or other protection on filler neck.
You could also wrap some razor wire around the fill tube, to discourage any touching.

......or maybe move to a better neighborhood.

Crime happens in the best of neighborhoods regardless of what State you might live in. JMHO but just go with the standard cap and if they get a gallon or two it beats spending hundreds (or thousands by some of these responses) to save a few gallons. It would be better to lose a few gallons over having them punch a hole in the tank and take a few gallons and let the rest run down the street. Now you need to replace the tank and deal with the hazmat issues. Hopefully with the level of crime you are having the neighborhood will be more vigilant and keep an eye out for people that don't belong in the area. The thief will move on shortly and try their luck elsewhere.

Technically, this statement may be true... but in reality: "Crime happens more predictably and considerably more often in the worst of neighborhoods, regardless of what State you might live in." After all, that is the very reason why they came to be called the "worst" neighborhoods.

There are entire websites catering to the real estate industry that map neighborhoods in red and green zones based on the police call records and reports. I have found these maps to be stunningly consistent with my personal experience living in both green and red zones over the years... where I've gone from being comfortable leaving the car keys in my unlocked car consistently overnight... to feeling like I should lock up the car keys in a safe inside the house.

It doesn't make any "cents" for criminals who live in low income neighborhoods (aggregated in that location by the lower cost of housing) to waste fuel driving 25 miles to a wealthy neighborhood (where they cannot afford the housing) in order to steal fuel. No. They are going to steal fuel as near as they can get it. Maybe not on their own block, but not too far away.

Vallejo is a city with gorgeous, temperate climate, river, delta, and bay views, marina port access, with rolling hills in the back drop... but a quick google image search of crime maps for Vallejo reveals many a map littered with icons and red circles of high crime statistics. Twenty five miles and a $6.00 bridge toll away is Orinda. A search of a crime map there turns up images of crimson red roses, among other flowers and landscapes.

Keep the fuel security ideas coming... because I'm not very happy with the zone I'm in right now!

Man, that sucks

You need a moat...with crocodiles and hornets in it.

I can't stand thieves. I'd be losing sleep and carving notches in my stock.

Hope you find a way to work this out.
