Welp she made it. Dropped and reinstalled trans in the hotel parking lot with a small floor jack, some wood and a ratchet strap to strap the trans to the jack.. almost $800 for driveshaft rebuild, $75 plus had to drive from vegas to Aurora, UT to replace the broken bellhousing, broken front bearing retainer on trans, thankfully a pro welder was staying at the same hotel and welded it up for me for free. He did a darned good job too... No one in Vegas had one.. I guess Vegas isn't a good place to own an old ford truck..thankfully I don't live there since I have 3 old ford trucks.. there seems to be a lot more of them still hanging around in WA..
The old worn out IDI did not sound very happy..knocks badly and barely has enough compression to run but after pulling the grade on lookout pass on i90 (25 mph in 2nd gear, smoking like a pissed off freight train) she seemed to have smoothed out.... now she is waiting to be pulled and replaced with a fresh rebuilt 6.9 waiting in my garage..so she can rest on the engine stand for a while..I think the driveline failure also trashed the rear bearing in the trans along with the rear seal.. there is a crap load of gear lube all under the truck and it's been leaving puddles on the ground under the rear of the trans.. I just made sure to top it off a couple of times so the trans wouldn't totally blow..

Good to hear your back on the road, parts can be hard to find for these old girls sometimes. When in doubt horde as much as you can for spare parts lol.

Thank You all.. this will definitely be a trip that I won't forget..
I do need to start hoarding parts for this truck.. you don't see many of the bull nose crew cab dually trucks anymore. Especially diesel ones..one thing I really would like to get my hands on is the holy grail ZF5 trans.. the t19 needs to be rebuilt.. might as well replace it with a zf for that nice OD gear. The new(reman) 6.9 should be quite happy with a ZF behind it..

Probably cheaper and easier to by a whole truck at that point. I got lucky I bought 1991 f250 5 speed 4x4 7.3 n/a for 800$ did the brakes wheel cylinders in the back and some brake lines. Up here a wrecker wants 900$ for a 5 speed in these trucks.
