269k on a 04 6.0, in the rust belt, oil pan is needing replaced according to the tech. It looks rusty for sure. 1300+ to change it. I understand you have to lift the engine some to replace.

No, the engine does not have to be lifted "a little bit"; see video:
That only works if the bolts aren't rusted. All the rusted ones I've done have rusted bolts above the cradle and a bolt extractor pounded on is the only way to get them out. They can rust down to a 5-6mm head. The oil pan in the video wasn't rusted at all.

The way it was done in the video is exactly the same way I do it too. And yes, I agree with the statement about the bolt heads, which is exactly why I usually quote new bolts as well as the pan itself, so that I don't care about how badly I mangle the bolts during removal if I'm only going to discard them after. I think DTR was only doing an oil pan reseal in the video.
