Is this a normal start-up sound for the 3.5EB?

I've seen/heard all the videos online about that death rattle at start up in the 3.5. This is different. I'm curious about the whistle at about 9 seconds and a second around 24 seconds. The attached video quality sucks, but it's more about the sound.

Not concerned about the fans kicking in...just the whistles. The first one sounds kinda cool actually...like the turbo waking up and joining the party. The second whistle sounds like something closing. So maybe this is normal, but I'm just not used to it.

The video was taken this morning after the truck cold soaked overnight. It was about 45 degrees out. But this sound happens after any long period where the engine cools down to ambient.

Let me know what you think...

Definitely makes ya think, doesn't it?

I'm fairly certain those whistles are coming from your turbos. I've heard mine make all kinds of noises like that, as did both my diesel trucks to some degree. I think it sounds normal, but definitely odd if you're not used to a turbocharged engine.

One of my favorite things is hearing my truck start up. The turbos whistling kinda grows on you,

Okay, so that's normal. Very cool. I actually wish I could hear the turbos a bit more in the cab. Just another reason to not "start-n-go"!

I agree. Sounds like turbo's. I've never sat and listened to mine, but I sure do listen to them when I leave a stop light!
