hello i have a 96 f350 gasser that im converting to diesel.easy route is idi but iwant more. i looked into the dt360 swap and i am hooked problem is finding one for a good price. there are many dt466 for sale forcheap here so i have been thinking about going that way. it seems that most the other dt swap threads are dead so i thought i give it a try.

a lot of info on here and elsewhere, but they don't really come up too often. not really any difference in work load by swapping a dt360 vs an idi FWIW.

dt466 is just too big to be practical in an obs pickup.

generally you can find a dt360 for ~1,000-1,500.

What is your location? I know of a DT360 for sale.
a 466 is WAY TOO BIG to practically fit in a pickup.

Also, you will need to beef up the front end a DT360 weighs about 1200lbs

What trans do you plan on using and what HP level?

You might need some some springs depending on what you are using now, he dt360 is a whopping 4-500 lbs heavier than your 460 (it is a 460 right?)....so to know what it'll look like, get 2 or 3 people sitting above the axle up front.

I will give that a try but I did upgrade my Springs when I put my lift on 8" not really concerned with the motor but with the medium duty trans it will be heavy .ant the moment I'm sitting down trying to figure the cost of putting it in just basic at first.

I have $4,800 to spare at the moment you think that is realistic for staying stock and getting it in the truck and driving. I will be selling the parts off my truck to recoup a little bit of money.I can fab most or all my mounts and as far as four wheel drive goes I will sacrifice it until I get enough money to add a divorce t case.

A friend in NE NJ has the DT out of a bus

As for the trans, what are you going with? Any medium duty trans is going to be WAY big and require a 3" body lift. Also, they are S L O W to shift

I am really leaning towards the md trans to save cost unless I have some more money roll in if I don't do a lift how much floor space are we talking or could I keep the dt pulled forward to help that I really got to get it and see what I can do on the fab side.

I dunno what trans you have, be nice to know, but to fit something huge you'll need to do trans tunnel mods.
