94 F-250 5.8L 2WD GAS 200K Miles

Just had a 46-year mechanic tell me he stays away from rebuilt PS Pumps cause he had too many come back to bite him in the rear-end. So many reviews pro & con out there for rebuilts of different brands.

I haven't asked him yet (he's online with a wildly successful website/free advice and youtube live show (used to have a live TV show - still does?...dunno), but wondering what you all think of this MOTORCRAFT STP48RM reman pump. $100.00 plus 40.00 core chge, rockauto.com. Rockauto's image below.

A safer bet than most reman's? Grateful for success stories, or comments and/or other recommendations.

ATF or PS Fluid?

 

I went to fordparts.com and found a price of $159 for a reman PS Pump and discovered that site is like a broker who sends you, via dialogue boxes, to your local dealer. My local dealer's price was $155 plus sales tax.

Aside from a Saginaw pump, which I don't understand, yet, exactly what it is I have to do (conversion kit?), I reckon a Motorcraft reman unit is the best I could do. Agreed? No?

Anyone have success with an ACDelco reman pump? RockAuto has one for $64.79.

Grateful if anyone has a better suggestion.
