You might think that your HPOP is fed by your LPOP, But according to this video you may be eating those words. In the 7.3l diesel there are two sumps. low end where the 15 Qtrs of oil used to lubricate the engine and then there is the top end oil sump holding an additional 3 Qtrs which the HPOP uses to operate your fuel injectors. So, if you don't believe this Idiot, take it from someone who has been working on the motors for more than 15 yrs then.

When I changed the oil in my truck the day after I bought it, I siphoned out the oil in the HPOP res. And it was a lot thicker and blacker than the oil in my pan. I flushed the HPOP res. three times with new oil after the oil change and my truck ran better and idled smoother. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks. I'm not an expert by all means, I'm an owner of 01 7.3l myself and no manual talks about this and discovered this informative site for our knowledge and you might find out that when you get your oil changed they are not changing the top end oil sump out for you. and the next thing you know you are changing out your top end, which looks like is happening here. I'm not an expert, but I thought PS help was very helpful in letting us know what we can do to make these truck last longer than. I've read some threads about all this. Near turn into virtual fist fights. I believe that everybody is entitled to their own opinion, you can say/do whatever you want. If it is a waste of time, that's fine, I have lots. I'm not saying it did much but it was noticeable enough for me to say something about it. Yes, I understand how the high and low pressure oil systems work.
