Factory Audio Add On Questions
Hey guys and gals, I tried googling this, but was having internet issues and finding all kinds of random info thought I would try here.
In my 09 superduty, I have the factory stereo with sync. I would like to add some kind of small sub thats hidden and out of the way. I hear these trucks had a factory sub as well.
So I guess Im wondering, where were these factory subs installed? Are they something that are just plug and play? I wouldnt be opposed to something aftermarket either, but I dont really need super loud tunes, just want to add a little bit of bass. I also like the factory stereo, and I like the way it works with the overhead video player for the kids, so I dont want to change that out.
So, can someone school me on what the best route to do here is, and give me a direction to start looking in!

Thanks man! I dont recall seeing anything back there, and the sound definitly isnt there haha.
So no regarding hook ups, do they take special plugs to hook up an amp and sub, or preferably even a stock sub, or are they prewired or?
I mean to run an amp and sub on an aftermarket stereo is no problem, ive done hundreds of those ever since I was a kid, but Ive never even looked at the back of the stock deck.

I was told the stock deck had connections to add an amp and what not by a stereo shop I use. You can probably buy a stock subwoofer form an auto wrecker. Not sure about the wiring but if your truck has it you should be able to find it back there. I added a stock woofer in my wifes plain FJcruiser. All the factory wiring was in place for a plug n play install.
