I have 7,000 miles since my last oil change at the beginning of winter. Probably 2,000 miles of commuting and 5,000 miles of towing a hybrid snowmobile trailer from MA to northern NH, all winter driving, some in 4WD. I am averaging 14.9 mpg. If I'm not towing I can see 20-21 sometimes, mostly 17-18, and if it's a regen tank I drop to 14-15.

I understand conceptually about Regens, but haven't owned an engine that has done so. Can some tell me what to expect when this happens so I'm not caught off guard? I bought an older JD 3720 rather than a 4046E to avoid it.

Easiest explanation is that extra fuel is dumped into the exhaust stream and ignitied in the DPF - which is a giant filter that traps soot.

Sometimes the extra fuel is delivered via an extra injector and sometimes via the exhaust stroke. Ford does the exhaust stroke and Chevy does the extra injector if you want examples.

My 2012 350 ccsb srw with 3.55 & 2.75x70r 18 tires averages around 16 unloaded with a mix of freeway and ultra slow city traffic. I have a 25' gooseneck and a 25' fifth wheel camp trailer that weighs about 1/2 what the GN usually does but I get better mpg towing the GN. Mileage is based on so many variables that it's close to impossible to get an apples to apples comparison. I prefer to do what I need to to get the job done and fill it up.

Yep. It's not like I want to burn 500 gallons a month, just have to.

Radium Where do you get fuel ? I tanked up Monday at a Stewart's Got down to 15.7 on that tank. Fueled up at Fasttrac today and I'm back to 19 on the dash
I'll do the MPG when I fuel up again next week but always get better mileage when I use Fasttrac

3.55's F350 crew, no load, commute 40 miles back roads, 60 miles interstate round trip. With my foot in it on the interstate...17.6 mpg, if I keep my foot out of it (avg 60mh) I get about 17.4. I think the reason for the same mpg is the exhaust cleaning occurs more often driving slower. If I reset the trip meter on the interstate, I says I'm getting ~20mpg, but by the time the tank runs dry, I'm back at 17ish.
