Question 06 heads replacement

hello, newbie here, looking to replace the heads on my 06 f 350 and trying to get some knowledge on the new aftermarket 6.0 heads that are available. Are these heads made at different foundries...thus one brand preferred above others? Or all one and same head, just sold by different companies with their brand stamped on them. thanks in advance....

I am not aware of any aftermarket 6.0 head manufacturer in the US, or at least using US steel. I personally wouldn't spend money on them. Most here would either take their existing heads into a reputable machine shop or buy Ford remans.

Here is another reman option...

UCF Machine Shop - Ford Diesel 32-valve head teardown and analysis.

...so the heads listed on ebay are not aftermarket? There seems to be several different vendors advertising new aftermarket, new oem and rebuilt 6.0 heads.

You have to be careful, some are Chinese castings and are not very good quality.

Yes of course they aftermarket, but cheap Chinese casting. That's what I am saying, I'm not aware of a US quality casting head for the 6.0. If there was nobody would bother with Ford remans.

The truck has ford remands on it now that failed.

Surely someone here has knowledge of the aftermarket heads available and some results?

That information will be thin here on FTE. Give Anthony a call at Superduty Service a call. Sure seems like he was selling new heads, but I don't have any details behind them. Anthony is in Grain Valley Missouri.

Good luck on your search and let us know if source some good heads!!!

Ford remeams are warped right out of the box, don't believe me? Anthony has some videos at the machine shop with how bad there are. Best bet is to find a machine shop that specializes in 6.0 heads and put studs on it with Ford or Fel Pro gaskets

Heads failed or gaskets failed. The trick is straight and flat surfaces with studs.... maybe even a higher clamping force stud for high HP or more boost being used.

heads were repaired by a ford guru, engine completely gone thru...10k bill. Head studs were already installed. If genuine oem ford castings have design flaws that causes them to crack, it's time to maybe look at aftermarket.

Has anyone here tried a set of the aftermarket heads to give some actual feedback?

This thread has 300 views now. Not being a smart azz but with that many views some of the experts would have weighed in by now. Advice was given so take it for what it's worth.

This is not a small block Ford or Chevy where you can go to Summit or Jeggs and search for 100's of options. As was suggested find a shop that specializes in 6.0 heads and/or rebuilds, they are your best bet!
