I would just go ahead and run your unleaded fuel in your engine just the way it is. I have ran a lot of older equipment(yes even some older than 1965) on unleaded gasoline and never had a problem.

For what it's worth, I have a 1965 F100 with a 352 that has been sitting for several years that I plan to get going this summer. I never considered, and still don't, doing anything to the heads or valves.

The valve seat recession that you are concerned with was mostly a problem in the 1970's before the refiners got a handle on making unleaded fuel. At 8.9-1 compression that engine should run on the current fuel just fine. The only thing that might be a concern is that %%%#$^ ethanol in it. If they even use it in NZ. There might still be some parts in the system that won't get along with that stuff.

Gary, No idea how fuels differ in your country, but unleaded gas is about all you can find here in the US. My ol 66 has been drinking it for a while now with no issues. You shouldn't have any real concerns.
