6.4L screech on initial take off.
Hey guys,
Trying to find a bit of information for my dad. He has a 2008 F250 with the 6.4L PS. It recently started making this horrible screech on his initial take off from park. After he let's off the gas and brakes, the truck won't make this noise again for the rest of the time it's on. He ended up replacing the turbo, and that did not resolve the issue. I believe the Y pipe was checked and it was fine. Anyone have any ideas what it could be that would cause it only on the first acceleration?
Thanks.

My 08 also does that on occasion. I have an Edge Insight CTS that can monitor everything on the truck that has a sensor and goes to the PCM. When mine started doing that, I switched one of the monitor screens in the CTS to monitor Exhaust Back Pressure. Every time the noise was made, the EBP was very high. I usually just let off the throttle for a second and hit it again and it usually stops.

Definitely not the serpentine belt. It coincides perfectly with the turbo spooling up.
Truck has 115k miles on it I believe.

Had an 08 f350 that did the same thing but it was consistent anytime engine tried building boost. Ended up being drivers side exhaust manifold bolts broke off. Front 4 bolts. When u nailed it it would leak and the steel manifold gasket acted as a reed and made a horid screech. Not an awful fix, afternoon and a 12 pack.

Mine comes and goes. I just live with it. I've deleted the emissions on my truck, so I know it has nothing to do with that, at least in my case. The 6.4's are not a good truck to be used as a car unless you run them hard, and keep driving it when it goes into the regen process. Or you delete it. Keep up with the oil changes as well as the fuel filter changes too. And be sure to drain the water out of the fuel on a regular basis too.
