Couple of 6.0 questions

I have a few questions that have to do with my 2006 6.0 Ford F-250. So first off my ECT and EOT are running about a 14-20 degree difference for example on warm days my EOT=207 and ECT=187 just curious if this is normal or this is a telling sign that something may be wrong?

Next question is I live in Virginia Beach, Va. I am interested in bullet proofing my 6.0 but not to familiar with any of the diesel shops around here. Does anyone on here live in that area and know of any good shops or had any good experiences with shops around here for bulletproofing? Any bad ones I should stay away from?

Sparky83 and myself live in VA Beach. There are a couple shops, most of them are junk.

187 and 207, that after a 15 minutes ride at 65mph and no load or towing anything and at full temp before starting the timer?

I'd be glad to help you to a good shop. Sparky just did his truck, not that hard if you can turn a wrench and have a place to do it.

Stay away from Jason's Big Truck.

Nice to know people live close by lol but yes I have about a 30 minute ride to work everyday and the whole ride is highway (64 & 264). Not ever pulling a trailer or nothing, just me.

As for the other I live in an apartment so no real place to work on my truck and I don't have much experience working on diesels (or any car for that matter) lol so idk how well I would do trying to bullet proof it myself lol. Hey but thanks for all the info so far and I willing to learn anything about these trucks cause I plan on keeping mine for quite awhile lol

You need 15 minutes of 65mph. If those temps hold, getting close to an oil cooler.

You a Navy guy?

I suggest that you watch a few youtube videos on the 6.0 engine repairs. It will help to understand the motor.

Yeah I'm in the navy. And next time I drive in ill try to keep it around 65 for 15 mins and see where I'm at. On good days it will sometimes stay around a 10 degree difference through out my ride.

Thank you for Serving , may I suggest a Battery tender, if you don't drive the truck much you need to keep those Battery's up.

Those spreads have to be on flat ground, no hills etc, and I'd recommend a good 20 mile run. It also appears that your t-stat is running on the cold side or the engine wasn't fully heat saturated yet. Temps on a totally warmed engine on flat ground should be in the 190's to low 200's. Once you have an accurate spread reading go from there. Some here have run 11 to 13 degree spreads for a number of years with no further increase. One of the 6.0's bad raps comes from people throwing parts at it because they don't understand it. If it ain't broke don't fix it. If the engine is sound, I wouldn't spend the money bullet proofing until something broke causing me to tear into the engine. Just my op. Diesel parts are expensive, save your cash for when it needs it. If the engine was up to temp. then a new t-stat would be my first order of business. Cheap and easy to do yourself. At the same time you could do a fresh water flush, no chemicals, and then a fresh mix of 50/50 coolant. If it has the Ford gold in it I would just
stick with that.

Make sure your 2 readings are close to equal on start up after over night cold soak.

Yeah mine still has the Ford Gold in it. And I understand what your saying about waiting to bullet proof it until I have to tear into the engine. I'm at 98,000 miles on it right now so maybe I'll wait until I start having problems to look into bulletproofing it. Thanks for the info
