04 5.4 performance towing upgrades

Hello and thank you to everyone who views this thread. I have a 04 f150 that I am wanting to put some money into for some better towing performance. The truck is currently stock and I was think about a CAI a SCT live wire with custom tunes and a set of long tube headers hi low cats and a single 3" cat back with a tip. I was want to know what kind of power gains I can get out of this set up or if there is anything else to add performance without diving into the motor. All thoughts are appreciated

How much are you towing, and how much of a gain are you hoping for? That 5.4L engine was pretty decent, but it was never known for awesome power.

Sounds like you have a pretty healthy budget for these "upgrades". Have you considered upgrading to a different truck?

If I wanted to upgrade a truck for towing I would look at a tuner, gears, suspension upgrades and tires.

Thanks for the replies. I just got the truck in the spring of last year and I love the truck. If i could gain 50 hp and 50 trq with these bolt ons and a bad a** roumble sound i would be happy. As far as weight around 7,000 pounds is the most give or take a few with my trailer skid loader and gear. I was also thinking the tuner to firm up the shifts for when I am hooked onto the trailer. I didn't buy this truck intending to use it for work that's just how it has worked out. I've heard people say about supercharger kits to wake the motor up but is really a good option when towing or is that more of a go fast spin tires upgrade.

Best bang for your buck is a tuner. My opinion is that intake and exhaust modifications aren't going to make much difference unless you go to a shop that will custom tune your truck with multiple pulls on the dyno, and that's going to get really expensive really fast.

The intake and exhaust mods WILL help you get louder noises though, if that's important.

This is true. The 04 stock intake is CAI, and a less restrictive exhaust may actually cost you some low end torque. Other than a tuner, I would look at gears before doing anything to the engine.
