1995 Fummins project
Hello all,
I've got a 95 F150 4x4 RC/LB with a Cummins 4BT swap in it. Its lifted 3 inches, has airbags in the front with 33x12.50 cooper discoverers on American racing bullet hole style wheels I've already received some crucial insight on rewiring a fuel shutoff solenoid. I would like to note that I received this truck with the swap already done, however the previous owner wasn't as clean of an installer as I'd like. So, this project is sort've a restoration of the beat up TTB fiddy and a clean up/upgrade the cummins type of project.
I received the truck in February and so far I have:
- Cut out a bunch of the old 5.0 wiring harness that wasn't being used
- rewired the faulty wiring to the fuel shut off solenoid
- replace the lift pump
- installed a fuel pin and turned up the timing
- removed the rusted out bed and acquired a mint bed from a JY (currently prepping for paint)
- replaced upper shock mounts
- removed rear tank (leaking and not worth saving)
- replaced radio
- Replaced all hard brake lines from master to rear axle
- axle dumped 8" tip
Currently in the process of:
- acquiring floor pans and cab supports (pretty damn hard to find) as they are rotten and sagging
- prepping cab for paint
- cleaning and applying POR-15 to frame
- determining best route to move shifter towards back of cab by 1-2" (will smack the dash in first and third)
Plans once I get this truck to my standards:
- SAS swap so I can lift her up
- upgrade turbo??? dependent on potential outcomes vs cost
- might rewire fuel tank selector switch and run new fuel lines to add a rear tank (PO just cut lines and wires so this will be a fun challenge)
goals for this truck are to make it CLEAN. it already turns heads, as diesel in a fiddy, so the majority of the project in the near future will be paint/ body work and restoration. I am by no means a master tech but I have some experience (or a buddy that does ) with most automotive systems. I have access to a lift just about whenever I need it and tools for pretty much any job. Side note: really need an air hammer. any suggestions? I look forward to any help, comments, concerns, etc. anyways.. heres a pic of the ole girl as she sits today.
