DieselCamper's 1999 F350 Lariat DRW CCLB camper build!

Sorry for the second thread, I can't figure out how to delete the other one and I forgot to reserve posts! Here it goes again:

In about an hour, as long as it hasn't blown up, I'm buying a 1999 F350 DRW CCLB with the 7.3L PowerStroke with 280,000 on the engine from a guy who has all of the maintenance records and works on cars. He's selling it to me for $8000 and he's only getting rid of it because he's going through a nasty divorce. He's a car guy and he's well off so I'm sure that he took good care of it.

Here are some pics!

GOALS
Turn her into a competent overland camper.
Build a platform in the back for a mattress. - DONE
Make her able to go anywhere.
Keep the 7.3L in good shape.

PARTS ORDERED
A.R.E CX series topper with full fiberglass door, fabric lined, bedbug and rope lights.
5" Turboback exhaust - DONE

ORDERING SOON
Curtains
Matress

PARTS I HAVE
Goal Zero YETI 450 Solar Generator
Yeti Tundra 35 QT cooler
Mr. Buddy propane heater
Propane-powered two-stove heater
WeatherTech floor mats

NEED SUGGESTIONS ON
Subwoofer and box
Rail mounted cargo rack
Tires

I'm hoping to do all the work myself, as I have a basic knowledge of cars and am hoping this can teach me. The only thing I won't touch is the electrical system.

sounds like its gonna be a BA rig. only suggestion is that when you get the spyder headlights that before you put them on SILICONE THEM. when i got my spyder headlights i just put them on and they were not sealed well enough and i started getting moisture in them and had to dry it out, which took forever. and also, dont be afraid of the electrical system! electrical is easy once you get a basic understanding of it! that was the first thing i started doing on my truck with the headlights and now i do tons of stuff with electrical! but other than that i cant wait to see what this rig turns into!

So 35" Goodyear Duratracs would work well?

I love my Duratracs. Not 100% sure if they have them in a 35" size. You might have to look moe into that. If you are planning on spending some time off the beaten path these are great tires.

Is it possible that 33's might be big enough? 35' inch tires are going to run me a thousand dollars and that's ludicrous. Are 34's and 33's already much bigger than what's stock?

With a 4" lift I would go 35" tires. Will be following along on the build. Welcome to FTE.

You might check this out for the bed platform too.

Okie dokie! What would you suggest as the best "budget" tires that would be 35's?

I looked into the DECKED systems but they only make it for the short beds and they don't fit in Long beds :/

Didn't know about the length part. Hmmm

I would check out the Toyo's either A/T 2 or M/T's.

Also, super excited because I went in and ordered the CX series topper with the Full size door, fabric lined and offload spray! It's gonna be a much better look than that ugly Leer topper that's on their currently!

Here is a chart. You need at least a E rated tire.

If you don't lift it I think 33's would be fine. I have a stock height 01 with 315/75/16 (35's) duratrac's and I love the look. The wheel wells are a little cramped but that's how I personally like it, 33's would look fine too. With a 4inch lift 33's might look a little small tho IMO.
