Transmission clicking

1985 F150 manual 4 speed transmission. Clicking noise from transmission in and out of gear. Has anyone else experienced this problem before?

Does it change whether the clutch is engaged or disengaged?

Does it seem to match engine speed, or road speed?

I hear it the same all the time. After the truck warms up is when it starts that noise. I thought it was coming from under hood but it louder under the truck by drivers side door.

I was think throw out bearing. But if the noise was coming from the transmission it don't really make sense if the trucks in neutral and still hearing the clicking noise the loudest underneath. I don't know.

Most of the time if TOB and if it has free play when you step on the clutch pedal the noise will change.

I just looked and it looks like you have a hyd clutch so the so called "free play" is not at the fork like the old linkage type so the TOB is in consent contact.

But still if TOB it should change noise when pushed if it was bad I would think.

If coming from the trany and the clutch is working right pushing in the clutch should stop the input shaft from turning so if noise was from trany it would stop.

Next guess is clutch disc and/or pressure plate.

I replace the clutch pressure plate and throwout bearing last year. Maybe I'll figure it out but thanks for your input

Doesn't it speed up or slow down, either based on road speed or engine speed? So the "rate" is constant no matter what?

What motor is in the truck and what is the mileage on it, could it be a fuel pump or injector making the noise.
Was going to say exh leak but you said it does not speed up or down with road or engine speed.

Is there an electric fuel pump bolted to the frame that may have come loose?
You sure it does not speed up with engine speed?

I cant see what may cause the clicking noise to only start when motor is warm (up to temp) and not speed up or slow down with engine speed ie stays the same tempo and be coming from the trany.

Dual tanks? If so, the selector valve is in that area, tucked inside the frame rail on the driver's side. I've never heard of one continually clicking, but who knows.

The valve is spring loaded to the rear tank. If you've been running on the front tank, select the rear to remove power from the valve and see if that stops the noise.
