F250 Rear pins and shackle bushing questions

Hey guys,
I bought the F250-350 Rear Spring Pins & Shackle Bushing Kit and I'm starting to install and have a couple of questions.
First off, this comes in the kit.
6- Rear Spring eye bushings
6 - Rear spring pins
4 - Rear shackle bushings

By my figuring, I only need 4 of the spring eye bushings. The shackle bushings are used for the other two spring pins. Am I missing something or does MidFifty have their kit wrong? 1948-56 Ford F-100 F250-350 Rear Spring Pins & Shackle Bushing Kit

Also, I removed the shackle and this is what they look like. I'm guessing I need new ones, but thought I would ask.

Notice what's left of the old bushings. Think they are worn?

Well, I'm no expert, but I think it's safe to say that one's worn out...

At least the old bushing was easy to remove.

I'm in the same boat Joe. The rear Y-Hangers ( yours need replacing ) are not available from Mid Fifty so I been searching around for replacements also. I called CMW in Ohio and he said he thought he had some but hasn't called me back yet. Dennis Carpenter lists replacements on their web site but I haven't called them yet.

I had the same problem with my rear shackles. Worn out. I took them to a machine shop and they welded up the centre and redrilled them and pressed in solid brass bushings. I had no choice as there were no replacements for my 49 F68. Not cheap up where I live but I didn't have no other choice. But I guess nothing ends up being cheap when you are trying to repair 67 year old vehicles. ,Doug.

Mid Fifty has these online: 1953-56 Ford F-100 F250-350 Y Hanger - TBAA-5776-A
It shows the proper part number. I haven't checked to see if they are in stock.

I just talked to them Wed.since they're on my order and they told me they're out of stock and didn't know when they would get them back in stock.
This is my next call to see if they have them-

LMC Truck says they have them. Part #: 45-1389 They are $5 cheaper there. Shipping is about $4 more (I think)

I emailed mid fifty asking them if they had them and their thoughts on only needing 4 of the spring eye bushings.

Joe,
That explains the slop in those springs last time I was there. Are the other pins and bushings for the Front spring mount?

Yeah that explains the slop. I need to take a couple of pictures of the pins that were in there too.
As I see it, the 4 shackle bushings go in the slopped out of my Y hanger, two per hanger. Then 4 spring eye bushings go in the...well spring eyes. That leaves me with 2 left over spring eye bushings.

Here is a picture of the old pins alongside a new:

It'd be worth the time to let your fingers doe the walking through the yellow pages. Who knows, you might get lucky at a local spring shop.

These trucks were, what can I say TRUCKS, they hauled heavy loads and worked off road. The wear on the pins is just normal. Not right but par for the course. I'm surprised you didn't wear yourself out getting those pins out.

To do it right, I'd install the rears front spring bushings and pins. Lube it all up good and like the wise guys say, "Forget about it".
I didn't check when I was there last how are the front springs bushings?

Well shoot. I dug back through my old pictures and found a picture of the front pins.
It looks like that will be next on the list to replace.
I will find some new rear Y hangers first then get the front kit and look at that sometime later. Shoot, probably best to order it all now....

Just remember "Once and Done!

Maybe you can try a NAPA and get them locally.

Well, I'll be darn. They do have the front pins at Napa:
LEAF SPRING BOLT NCP 2748131 | NAPA Auto Parts
Nevermind, they are listed as out of stock. Buying the whole set would be cheaper at mid fifty anyway.

It was easy to remove the rear because I had done it before. Also, not having a bed gives you full access to them. Just back then I was stupid (really just cheap) and figured what I had would work. That's true, but not the best decision.

Replacing the front springs and shachles might improve your steering too.
