steam and water comong out of intake
My truck over heated and I now have a looks like a pin hole leak next to the front injector on the left side looking at it. I have used sealers and it does not work. Water pools around the injector. Does this sound like a cracked intake housing? I have done many repairs but this is something I'm not sure I want to do. I can get a new intake setup for 160.00 on rock auto but ford would be in the 300 or more just for the part. Advise?

you have a blown o-ring gasket seal on the crossover line bolted to the bottom of the manifold

yes it squirts up... The lower crossover line is bolted to the bottom of the manifold and sealed with an o-ring, not a gasket. The plastic groove in the intake manifold distorts and blows out the o-ring... it can squirt up.. Water around the injector and shorting out the #1 or 2 plug is a common problem.

2001 5.4 Had similar issue. Leakage causing #1 misfire. Intake manifold had a small crack that I found after pulling it. They can also warp and can be epoxied in some cases. I went with the $160 after mkt intake. Takes about two days labor. Might as well replace plugs, o rings on injectors, serpentine belt, tensioner pulley, and coolant while you're at it. Get a couple cans of throttle body cleaner too. Clean the idle air control valve b4 putting it back together. Inspect all those vac hoses too. There's a fitting on the back of the new intake where the egr hose connects that snaps on. Be sure to put the o ring on the snout b4 you insert it into the intake. The OEM intake is solid and does not come apart.
