just wondering what guys have come up with for this...I have a 51 F1 and want to finally secure the spare after 4 years of having it bounce around...I have a fuel tank between the frame so can't go stock..Thanx
If your front bed rail is similar to Ross' or my '50. you should be able to mount the after market tire carrier to the rail and down through the bed.
I could post later this week of my install, the bracket was aftermarket and is high enough to bolt through the rail.
It was tight to get the bolts in between the bed front and cab, but you only need to do it once. I put mine to the side so the bed side keeps the tire from rocking around. Tires are surprisingly heavy and want to move around. I wish I'd used heavier steel on mine.
One other thing I had to consider; my spare is not quite as tall as my road tires, so the bolts holding the wheel in the spare carrier needed to be in slots, vertically.
Canadian ..I tried to send you a PM with pics but wasn't able to.
The spare tire mount kit came from LMC, a he shop that installed it added a couple pieces of billet aluminum to space it out from the sidewall.
