Recently acquired a brush guard for an absolute steal. Long story short a Ford dealership took it off a trade in and needed it gone. It can off a Ford but not sure on what year exactly. It bolted up to my bumper mounts, but I have brackets on the bottom, what goes to these? Or should I just cut them off?
I know nothing, but it looks to me that the brackets in question should bolt to the sub-frame and function to both stabilize the brush guard and protect it from impact of forces that could result in it bending?

I agree, through hours of research, they're there to support the brush guard in the event of a impact. I still haven't tracked down what brand it is either, I have several emails out, but no replies.
Im leaning towards it being a westin or frontier. Neither of which have returned an email, yet. Also by the looks of it it was designed for an '08^. But I've got it on a '00, so far it seems as if I will be doing some custom fabrication.
Thinking a plate to bolt to the bottom of the tow hooks, with a 2" piece of square tube steel run down to the support arm, with another small plate to bolt the arm to. I think it would be suffieient, no?
When they pulled it from the other truck they left the brackets on the frame or rear of bumper mount because they didn't want to pull the bumper to remove them.

That's what I figured they did. They'll cut corners every chance possible.
Still haven't made a bracket, but it seems to ride just fine for now.
