Remove torn leather wrap on steering wheel
So the leather wrap on my steering wheel was all tore up. Previous owner had one of those snap-over covers on it. Nothing against them, but I just do not like them at all. So I removed it and the factory leather cover was just in awful shape. I was torn (no pun intended) between leaving it that way and just cutting it off, but could not find a good picture of what it looked like underneath.
So here it is, in all its bare glory, if anybody as ever wondered what it looks like under there.
Leather wrap removed, adhesive material residue cleaned off.
And it's not too bad. I know, it's a cheap fix. Some day I might take it to an upholstery shop and get re-wrapped, or try to find a clean XL steering wheel with just the rubberized coating, no leather wrap, in a junk yard or something. At the time (late summer) I was on the fence about the truck and didn't want to invest too much in it.
For what it's worth, the indentions in the plastic where the leather stitches go are a bit sharp on your hands.
These edges are a little sharp but not too bad.
Here's the other rough edge.
Not too bad, and the price was right.
