Is the oil pressure gauge on the dash cluster actually giving a real reading, or is it a dummy gauge?

Mine has recently started reading on the low side, I changed my oil but it's still just barely over low.

Truck seems to be running fine.

 

It's a dummy gauge. Goes to the middle when the sender detects "enough" (something like 7 PSI) pressure. If your oil level were low enough to be an issue wrt. lubrication, it also wouldn't be supplying enough oil to the HPO system to fire the injectors.

 

Try cleaning the connection on the oil pressure switch.

 

I will give that a shot...still working 12+hrs a day 7 days a week...so even getting time to type this is a challenge..lol

 

It's just an idiot light with a needle, don't worry about it.
